Everyday Icons / Hiding In Plain Sight (Abu Dhabi)
No.0017 - La Brioche Building, Beeshan Street, Abu Dhabi
I found very little information about this building when researching online. It seems to be known locally as the ‘La Brioche Building’ - owing, I assume, to the presence of a branch of the popular French-themed cafe chain on the ground floor corner of the building.
I first came across this building during an early exploration of the Khalidiya area back in 2014. Its striking form stuck with me ever since. It’s surrounded by much taller and glassier buildings now - you would struggle to find it unless you happen to walk down Beeshan Street.
From what I can tell the building appears to utilise a combination of deck access from the ‘rear’ side and internal access, all serving duplex apartments spread over six levels.
I’d love to know more information about this building if anyone has anything!
