Everyday Icons / Hiding In Plain Sight (Abu Dhabi) No.0006

The sixth post in my series ‘Everyday Icons / Hiding In Plain Sight (Abu Dhabi)’

Everyday Icons / Hiding In Plain Sight (Abu Dhabi)
No.0006 - ‘Al Aweidha Travel’ Building, Al Lulu Street, Abu Dhabi

As with my previous posting, I wasn’t able to find out any information about the design or construction of this building. It’s located on Al Lulu Street, just in front of the new mosque designed by X Architects, and Foster + Partners WTC Mall. Its facade creates all sorts of patterns as the sun shifts across it. This seems to be a common theme with many of the buildings I’m documenting, and something definitely lacking from many of the newer buildings in the city. Fun fact: there’s an identical twin of this building three streets over (the Jamal Building on Al Ghatfa Street)!

I’m also creating a map dedicated to plotting the locations of each of these projects. You can find it here if interested.
