Visit / Al Shindagha Historic District

A real contrast to yesterdays' post!

As part of my recent trip to Dubai I took a morning stroll around the Al Shindagha historic district, close to the Dubai Creek. Originally home in the first half of the 20th century to HH Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum - the then ruler of Dubai - the area is now home to a number of museums dedicated to Emirati culture, craft and history. Personal favourites were the Al Maktoum Residence, the Perfume House and the Visitor Centre. Both the Perfume House and the Visitor Centre are designed by Dubai based X Architects and provide a modern yet sympathetic contrast to the historic surroundings.

The real highlight though was meandering through the narrow streets discovering great little vistas, spaces, moments and details.
